After growing up and training in Wisconsin, I’m now a long-term resident of Michigan and reside in Rochester Hills. I enjoy traveling and spending time with my family, trail running, mountain biking in Stony Creek, and preparing freshly cooked meals. Professionally, I’m most proud of starting Michigan Ophthalmology as a new practice in 2019 from the ground up, and then recently rebranding our practice to the Clear Vision Cataract & LASIK Center after expanding the office to offer on-site LASIK and cataract surgery in our very own Quad-A Accredited facility. I love that we continue to be 100% physician-owned and operated, which ensures that all of our patients are cared for without being influenced by outside corporate ownership.

• Cataract Surgery – Cataract surgery is a common procedure where the clouded natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) to restore clear vision. It is typically performed as an outpatient procedure and involves making a tiny incision in the eye to extract the cataract. Different IOL options are available to address vision needs like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.
• LASIK – LASIK (Laser-Assisted In-Situ Keratomileusis) is a type of refractive eye surgery that uses a laser to reshape the cornea, the clear front part of the eye, to improve vision. LASIK can correct common vision problems like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism. It is a popular procedure that can reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses.
• PRK – PRK (Photorefractive Keratectomy) is another type of refractive eye surgery that uses a laser to reshape the cornea. Unlike LASIK, PRK does not involve creating a corneal flap. Instead, the outer layer of the cornea is removed, and the laser is applied directly to the underlying corneal tissue. PRK can also correct common vision problems.
• SMILE – SMILE (Small Incision Lenticule Extraction) is a relatively new type of refractive eye surgery that uses a femtosecond laser to create a small, precise lenticule (a thin, disc-shaped piece of corneal tissue) which is then removed through a small incision. SMILE is designed to offer the benefits of LASIK, such as fast visual recovery and long-term stability, with potentially fewer side effects.
• EVO ICL – EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) is a type of refractive surgery where a small, flexible lens is implanted inside the eye, in front of the natural lens. This procedure is designed for individuals with high degrees of nearsightedness or astigmatism who may not be suitable candidates for LASIK or other corneal refractive surgeries.
• RLE – RLE (Refractive Lens Exchange) is a procedure where the natural lens of the eye is replaced with an artificial intraocular lens (IOL) to correct vision problems. This is similar to cataract surgery, but it is performed on patients who do not have cataracts. RLE can address issues like nearsightedness, farsightedness, and presbyopia (age-related loss of near vision).
• Cornea Cross-Linking (CXL) – Cornea cross-linking is a procedure that uses UVA light and a photosensitizing eye drop (usually riboflavin) to strengthen the cornea. It is primarily used to treat keratoconus, a progressive eye condition that causes the cornea to thin and bulge, leading to irregular astigmatism and vision problems. CXL can help halt the progression of keratoconus and, in some cases, improve visual acuity.
• Dry Eye – Dry eye is a condition where the eyes do not produce enough tears or the tears evaporate too quickly, leading to chronic eye discomfort and potential vision problems. Treatment for dry eye can include prescription eye drops, over-the-counter lubricating eye drops, warm compresses, lid hygiene, and in some cases, procedures to improve tear production or reduce tear evaporation.
